The Last 2 Weeks

The last 2 weeks has been exhausting but fun. I had to teach a 6th grade class for 2 weeks in my subject areas for my field experience class. I've seen a lot of growth in my teaching in these last few weeks. I've also build up confidence in myself and my teaching. Friday was my last day at the middle school and I am going to miss my mentor teacher and my students. My mentor teacher has been very helpful in helping me grow as a teacher and very supportive of me. I appreciate the experience she has given me by letting me teach her class for the last 2 weeks.

My first week I had to teach math. It was somewhat a difficult experience because I had to become creative and make up an inquiry based lesson for teaching parallelograms and triangles. I was not confident in a few of these lessons at first but it seem to get better once I started teaching them to the students. As the week went on, the students seemed to really respond to the lessons.

The second week was the week that I was looking forward to. This week I taught science and my topic was Physical and Chemical changes. I got a chance to do some cool experiments with the students. They got to test everyday household chemicals with water, vinegar, and iodine. They got to watch capsules disappear and shapes appear, build water rockets, grow snow, and make slime. The students really had fun with these lessons.

I really enjoyed teaching the 6th graders that I had. It was a fun and exciting experience that I wouldn't mind doing over again. Now I am excited to see where I will be placed for my student teaching. I can't wait!!!!! I'll talk to you all soon!!!!!!
